junk in the trunk

This is Lo & Cliff's youngest, my nephew Silas. He is sporting the fancy cloth diapers that Heidi makes. His chunky little body is so cute in those plaid diapers. It helps that he has a very precious little smile!

If anyone wants to brave the whole "cloth diaper" world, let me know! I can hook you up with Heidi!! I'm cautiously excited to give it a try with baby girl!

toads

A few weeks ago, it was mating season around the ponds. They were SO loud. The only good part is that it enternained the kids for a few days. Toads were EVERYWHERE!

Kyler had the most fun with it. He caught 27 toads in a bucket!

Even though I wouldn't get near them, it was pretty funny watching the boys.

Myles and Macy had the job of keeping the toads in the bucket. They were very active and obviously tried to jump out constantly. Of course they had to use MY flip flop to do the job. Oh well.

So is the inverse true if a boy kisses a toad? Is it going to turn into a princess?? :) Okay - so really it was just a dare, but Kyler doesn't usually back down from a challenge. Gross.

So happy that it's finally nice enough to enjoy being outside!

daddy's boy

Yes, Myles reminds me daily that he is "daddy's boy." He is definitely Kyle's shadow. Gotta love that outfit to plant some trees over the weekend...

In other news....I finally made it to one of Kyle's track meets. He's had a pretty successful season (took 2nd place at conference last week). Our neighbor is one of the seniors on his team and is an amazing long jumper/athlete. I had to take a few pics of her jumping tonight. This jump was 17 ft. 6 in (her best is just a 1/2 inch short of 18 feet). I seriously can't image jumping that far. She literally flies....

Best of luck and districts and state, Caylee & the rest of the gals!

Curren is 12 ?!?!?!

How is it possible that my first-born is already 12??? He's down to 11 days of school left of 6th grade. He's about the same age as when I moved to Denver. The next 6 years will continue to FLY by and he'll be off to college. Scary!

I'm so proud of this kid. He's an excellent student, an awesome runner, a devoted basketball player (he's in the gym every day shooting hoops), a VERY helpful big brother, and one good-lookin' kid.

The day before his birthday we had a mother/son date and went shopping, out to eat (does the pretzel maker count?????), got ice cream, and of course took some pics. It was fun to spend some one-on-one time with him.

I also figured out that this is the LAST year that I won't be a mother to a teenager for at least the next 20 years. SCARY!!! Good times ahead!

This one is my favorite....he looks so sweet and his eyes are just shining:

Easter Morning

The past two years we've joined Grandpa Bill and Grandma Barb at St. John's sunrise service. The past two years we've also taken a few pics at the Denver creek while the kiddos still are dressed up. I think we've found a new tradition!?!?!?!

He is Risen! Thank you, Jesus!

This morning:

One year ago:

I can't believe how much older they all look in just one year. Time goes SO fast! Can't wait to add baby girl to the picture next year!

for Dave.....

Okay, okay.....finally posting pics of the gym floor. My brother says I post too many pictures of "other people's kids" and need to start posting pics of the awesome progress that Kyle is making. I have to admit....it's pretty darn cool....

Some day we'll sand it down to get the random lines out (and figure something out for the walls), but regardless, I think it looks amazing. So much cooler to think that three generations of Matthias boys (Bill/Kyle/Curren & Kyler) all played basketball on this floor plus all of Denver for the past 50 + years.

Great job, babe.

Curren is down here everyday...

Macy thinks it's her own personal dance studio....

american beauty

Meet our niece, Summer Louise. Isn't she beautiful?!?!?

Last spring, Barb, Kelsie & I spent some time cleaning out a room upstairs at Barb's and we spotted this wagon. The first thing I thought of was how cute that would be with a new baby girl.

Summer is truly an American Beauty....

The 24 hours before Summer was born, they were concerned that she wasn't getting enough nutrients and/or oxygen because they thought she was small. Instead, out came out a beautiful, perfect little girl. God is so good.

Summer was WIDE AWAKE during this photo shoot. It's hard to believe she's only 2 weeks old. She was stretching out big time for the camera.

Oh, and the proud big sister, Izzy. She is SO proud of her little sister. These two are going to be good friends.

Thought this one was funny....

Pulling the wagon with some very precious cargo.

Beautiful girls! Congratulations, Neil & Kelsie!

Can't wait to have my own American Beauty this summer! :)
